Jessica Alba Honest Sunscreen: People Are Saying Product Doesn't Work

Users of Jessica Alba's Honest Sunscreen Products are blasting the makers, saying its SPF 30 sunscreen does not work. Parents who have used the product have reported claims on TV and the Internet, showing photos of their children with painful burnt skins.

Currently, The Honest Company sunscreen is rated 2.9 stars on Amazon with parents sharing photos of their kids burning red. Kids did not get the sun protection the company has promised while playing outdoors even just for an hour.

Gretta Stable, a mother, was the first to report to NBC Chicago that her daughter, Maggie, still got burnt after applying the Honest Sun Screen three times.

Adult users also tweeted photos of their red skin not happy with Honest's sunscreen products. Others also claimed that the lotion leaves white residue on their skin too.

Buzz Feed News reports that the Honest Company, which says is "commited to providing safe and effective products" defends itself saying that their sunscreen lotions have been tested and proven.

"Our Sunscreen Lotion was tested, by an independent 3rd party, against the protocols prescribed by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration's (FDA) monograph for over-the-counter sunscreen products," the company told Buzz Feed.

"The results showed that our product is effective and safe for use as an 80 minute water-resistant (FDA's highest rating), SPF 30 sunscreen lotion in accordance with FDA regulations when used as directed."

As instructed, users must "shake well" and "apply liberally and evenly 15 minutes before sun exposure." The company also added to "reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying and at least every 2 hours)."

Although the company "take all consumer feedback very seriously," officials from The Honest Company pointed out that the number of complaints received on its website only "constitute less than one half of one percent of all units actually sold at honest.com."
