Music Producer David Wilson, 34, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Sunday evening. The Heber Springs, Arkansas resident was the boyfriend of troubled country singer Mindy McCready.
McCready has had a very public battle with drug addiction. She was thrust into the spotlight in December 2011 when she was declared missing together with her son Zander. They were later found hiding in the closet of the house. She had been fleeing after a custody dispute with her parents over the children.
Wilson was found shot in the same home where McCready was discovered.
McCready is quite distraught over the death, and released a statement:
"Today, we mourn the loss of my life partner and my children's father, David Wilson. David was my soulmate; he was a caregiver and guiding hand to our sons, Zander and Zayne. He was a precious gift from God to all of us and, yesterday, he returned home and is now with his mother and father. David loved and he was loved. Those who knew and loved him will miss him; those who did not know David missed the opportunity to know a truly loving and gifted man."
It is clear from her statement that she loved and cared for Wilson very much.
The country singer rose to stardom with the song 'Ten Thousand Angels.' Her album was certified double-platinum, but her career peaked and her life went downhill. She was involved in a series of arrests.
Most recently, she has been mounting a comeback, and even appeared on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. She tweeted back in Novermber 2012:

This latest blow to the singer is no doubt a tragedy.
