'Under The Dome' Gets Cancelled By CBS! What Will Happen In The Season Finale?

It looks like it's time to move out of Chester's Mill. CBS has just decided to pull the plug on the sci-fi drama series 'Under the Dome' after three seasons.

CBS Entertainment Chairman Nina Tassler released a statement on Monday to confirm the cancellation of 'Under the Dome.'

"Two years ago, 'Under the Dome' broke new ground in the summer and became an instant hit on CBS, as well as with viewers around the world," Tassler said. "Dome's event storytelling and multi-platform business model paved the way for more original summer programming with the successful rollouts of 'Extant' and 'Zoo.' We're excited to present the final chapter in Chester's Mill as the story comes full circle, with the Dome coming down as dramatically as it went up."

The series, which is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, first aired in 2013 and immediately pulled in as much as 13.5 million viewers. However, the ratings slowly began to falter in its second season and 'Under the Dome' experienced an all-time low by the time Season Three premiered. Unfortunately, it was the poor ratings that forced CBS not to renew the show for a fourth season.

So how will it end for the residents of Chester's Mill? What will happen when the Dome finally comes down in the season finale?

TVLine reveals an excerpt from the episode's log-line, which reads: "In the series finale, when the Dome comes down, many questions about its origin and power will be answered as two groups of residents engage in one final conflict that some won't survive."

'Under the Dome' stars Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Alexander Koch and Colin Ford. In the third season, 'CSI' star Marg Helgenberger has joined the cast together with Eriq La Salle, Frank Whaley and Gia Mantegna.

The season finale of 'Under the Dome' will air on CBS on September 10.
