A Los Angeles teenager has been arrested and a second plans to turn himself in after reportedly stealing parts of the Porsche, involved in "Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker's death.
According to the New York Daily News, 18-year-old Jameson Witty, was arrested and is being held on $20,000 bail, the Sheriff's Department said in a statement. A second suspect, who police say is a 25-year-old male, is reportedly "making arrangements" to surrender.
The theft occurred at a stop light, while the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT was being removed from the accident scene on a tow truck Saturday. While searching the suspect's home, detectives reportedly found a red T-top roof panel from the Porsche. The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department did not report what led them to the two men.
"A witness saw a male exit a vehicle that was following the tow truck," the sheriff's department said Friday. "The male grabbed a piece of the wrecked Porsche off the tow truck bed. The male drove away with the stolen vehicle part."
Charges are pending against the two young men. The Daily News reported detectives are considering filing criminal charges of felony grand theft and tampering with evidence. Witty's Instagram account showed a picture of what police said was a part of the car.
"Piece of Paul walkers car, took it off a tow truck at a stop light," the caption stated.
Walker, died Saturday, after his Porsche smashed into a light pole and tree then caught fire. The crash also killed friend Roger Rodas, who was driving the car. Investigators are currently trying to determine what caused Rodas to lose control.
"The investigation of the traffic collision is ongoing," according to a police report. "This includes examination of the wrecked vehicle for any further evidence that could help investigators to determine the cause of the collision."
According to CNN, an autopsy report released Wednesday by the Los Angeles County coroner's office stated that the 40-year-old actor died of traumatic and thermal injuries. Rodas, suffered "multiple traumatic injuries."
