Han Solo's 2018 Star Wars Will Be Lawrence Kasdan's Last Film

The American screenwriter, director and producer - Lawrence Kasdan, is a big factor as to why the American epic space opera franchise Star Wars was brought back to the big screens.

As Lawrence Kasdan will be co-writing and producing Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which comes out next month, and taking on the same duties on the forthcoming and untitled 2018 Han Solo project - the latter film will mark Lawrence Kasdan's final contribution to the Star Wars franchise.

In an interview, Lawrence Kasdan, famous as the co-writer of the films The Return of the Jedi, Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark, said that, counting the Han Solo project, "I have now created four Star Wars films. That's more than enough."

The Miami, Florida born screenwriter and director added that, he had a little enthusiasm in being involved in the Hans Solo movie, but Kasdan's family was so excited about the idea, that Kasdan agreed to co-write the screenplay with his son Jon Kasdan.

However, Lawrence Kasdan, who co-wrote the 1980's The Empire Strikes Back (also known as Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back) and 1983's Return of the Jedi (also known as Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi)  has been fastened to Disney's revival of the Star Wars franchise since early 2013.

Lawrence Kasdan initially signed on to write and produce one of the Disney's spin-off properties before collaborating with director J.J. Abrams in replacement of Michael Arndt as screenwriter - for what was then called Star Wars: Episode VII in October of 2013.

Nevertheless, director J.J. Abrams, famous for his work in the genres of action, drama, and science fiction, has been effusive in his admiration of Lawrence Kasdan as a co-worker on The Force Awakens, recently recounts the experience as being like "taking an extended master class" in filmmaking.
