Kanye West Yeezus Tour in Australia Postponed to Finish 2014 Album

Kanye West is pushing back the Australian portion of his worldwide Yeezus tour to head back to the studio and work on his upcoming album.

According to Billboard, the 36-year-old rapper announced Tuesday that he will postpone his highly anticipated tour because of "unexpected timing requirements" to finish his new album.

Seven dates in the five cities tour scheduled for May 2 to 11 will now postponed until Sept. 5 to 15. The tour includes shows in Sydney, Brisbane and other cities.

"Due to unexpected timing requirements to finish his highly anticipated new studio album, scheduled for a 2014 release, Kanye West regretfully announces the postponement of his upcoming tour dates in Australia," read a statement posted to Roc Nation's website. "The tour dates originally scheduled from May 2 to May 11, 2014, will now be played from September 5 to September 15, 2014. All tickets for the initially scheduled shows will be honored for the new dates."

The announcement included no other details about the rapper-producer's new album. Billboard reported that West's sixth studio album, "Yeezus," hit No. 1 in Australia last June. In December 2013, the rapper said his seventh album was a work-in-progress. Its release has been penciled-in as "highly anticipated" for summer 2014.

In an interview at Miami's Art Basel last December, West revealed that his new album will include just eight songs. West is also working on a film named after the album with director Hype Williams and writer Bret Easton Ellis.
