Chris Rock Monologue On SNL [VIDEO] Stand-Up Comedy Beginning Tackled 9/11, Boston Marathon, Jesus And Christmas – Controversy

Chris Rock Monologue - Chris Rock was the Host of "Saturday Night Live" last Saturday and he went directly into the controversial territory the very first minute he started talking.

The comedian tackled on subjects such as: The Boston Marathon bombings of 2013, where three spectators died and 264 people ended up injured.

He was also not shy about bringing up 9/11, which is a sensitive subject and always will be. If that wasn't enough, Chris Rock also spoke about Jesus and the meaning of Christmas, or the commercialization of it.

And all of that was just in the first 8 minutes of the show.

"I love Boston, I love the people there, but that was probably the most frightening, sadistic terrorist attack ever! Just think about it - 26 miles! 26 miles! 26 miles is a long drive," was how Chris Rock begun with the "awkward" bits.

The truth is that when he began relating "Boston" to "terrorist attacks," people already knew what he was referring to and probably, trying to figure out how any of it could enter into a joke.

After that, to mention the 2001 tragedy with the Twin Towers, he went instead to the Freedom Tower and basically, said that he would never enter there and that it should be renamed the "Never Going In There Tower," The Hollywood Reporter noted.

As for Jesus and Christmas, Chris Rock had a special spot for them as well. He recalled Christmas as the celebration of the birth of Jesus and straight to the point, joked, "I've never met Jesus."

An even smarter remark came when he analyzed the fact that Jesus was supposed to be the least materialistic and low-profile person in the planet and then Christmas is the most materialistic holiday of the year.

The controversy in the monologue came later, as many people still doubted if these were subjects to be joking about. There are certain subjects that are simply generally not tackled by comedians, such as: death, rape, historical tragedies.

Chris Rock didn't bring up rape, but he did mention all the rest.

"In 8 min, you hit it all: terrorism, 911, gun violence, capitalism, and religion. Can't wait for your next special!," A fan posted on Chris Rock's Twitter. Even in there, many agree it to be the best SNL for some time now, and others dwell on the idea.
