Johnny Depp’s Dreadful Scene Onstage During the Hollywood Film Awards Night

Johnny Depp staged an extraordinary performance during the Hollywood Film Awards on Friday night. He was given the honor of presenting the Best Documentary Award for "Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon" and he did so in a manner that shocked the audience, Beta Wired revealed.

An evidently drunk star of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" film series managed an introductory speech onstage starting with, "This is the strangest microphone I've seen in my life."  Depp acknowledged that he is not really good at it and he continued with seemingly offensive statements which rocked the audience, hence, CBS was compelled to intervene. He was cut off while saying, "It's just one of those nights," and the sound trailed off.

Jaime Gonzalez of Los Angeles BBC, noted that Depp's speech became the highlight of the awards night.  Also surprising is the fact that almost half of the films chosen have not been released yet.

Acclaimed personalities in Hollywood, Robert Downey Jr., Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, Keira Knightley, Angelina Jolie, Julianne Moore, and many others also graced the awards night in Los Angeles, California.

Social networking sites are also responsive to the incident, and Twitter followers immediately reacted to Depp's stance. Beta Wired reported that Director Mike Meyers said in jest, "It has been very rock and roll, really appropriate for Shep Gordon!"

Some considered Depp's attitude as a show of 'unprofessionalism' and that he should not be allowed to act that way onstage.  On the other hand, loyal fans remain unfazed and accepted it wholeheartedly. Their appreciation towards the actor transcends whatever behavioral problems he may exhibit at times.

He was supposed to honor Shep Gordon, but it seems untimely for his current state during the awards night. Anyway it attracted much attention than the award itself.
