Waffle House 2015: Southern Restaurant Chain Makes History On 60th Anniversary – This Lady Ordered One BILLIONTH Waffle! [PHOTOS]

It's been 60 years since Georgia-based casual dining chain Waffle House was launched on Labor Day weekend, and they found the best way to celebrate entering their sixth decade running, and now Waffle House's 2015 isn't only anniversary big, it's also a landmark for their one billionth waffle served!

Shanneil McCollum, one lucky customer who went to have breakfast in one of their Atlanta venues last Tuesday, was celebrated with cheers from the staff when it was time for her order to reach her table, as Waffle House 2015 celebrated the major landmark in the traditional waffle-themed restaurant.

According to USA Today, McCollum got served with the one-billionth waffle at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning, and it was an apple crumb one; of course, to celebrate this Waffle House 2015 landmark, her order wasn't only met with cheers but also with a few prizes such as a free breakfast and a goody bag of Waffle House-themed gear - besides, of course, a special plaque marking the occasion and a whole lot of balloons.

Besides McCollum’s gift bag, the Waffle House 2015 restaurant where the landmark happened treated all its present customers to breakfast.

"We have such a loyal, loyal following," said Darren Jarrett, the chain’s Senior VP of Operations in Atlanta, regarding this major Waffle House 2015 landmark. "Our analysts have been watching this billion-waffle mark for a long time. They gave us the word yesterday that it was going to happen around 10 o'clock today."

As WSBTV reports, the idea for Waffle House came to be when two Georgia neighbors, Joe Rogers Sr. and Tom Forkner, decided to open a 24-hour restaurant focusing on breakfast and “people” while serving great food, a dream that ultimately came to be on Labor Day 1955.

According to AJC, the exciting moment didn’t keep skeptics from appearing, and one customer in particular asked via Twitter how the company knew the one-billionth waffle mark would happen at that particular restaurant (where they held placed the plaque and balloons), and the chain’s response was epic.

“It’s waffle magic,” went Waffle House’s 2015 tweet.
