Too Much Vitamins Does More Harm Than Good

Who would have thought that extra vitamin intake can actually do more harm than good and it actually increase cancer risk. Research revealed that people thinks that they're getting a health boost from additional vitamin intake not knowing that they're increasing their chances in acquiring cancer and heart problems.

As per Mirror, one of the top cancer experts, Dr Tim Byers made studies research papers in a span of 30 years. He focused on most popular over the counter oils and supplements such as Vitamin E, beta carotene and folic acid. He then stated:

"We are not sure why this is happening but evidence shows that people who take more dietary supplements than needed tend to have a higher risk of developing cancer.

"When we first tested dietary supplements in animal models we found that the results were promising.

Eventually we were able to move on to humans. We studied thousands of patients for 10 years who were taking dietary supplements and placebos.

"We found that the supplements were actually not beneficial for their health. In fact, some people actually got more cancer while on the vitamins."

Dr Bryer then added that taking too much vitamins can do more harm than good. He also pointed out that most individuals get their daily recommended doses of vitamins and minerals from the meals that they consume.

"We have discovered that taking extra vitamins and minerals do more harm than good."

"This is not to say that people need to be afraid of taking vitamins and minerals. If taken at the correct dosage multivitamins can be good for you.

"But there is no substitute for good food."

Medical Daily then added nutrition experts encourage individuals taking supplements not to use them in excess. Vitamin intake should be paired with a healthy diet. Vitamin supplements are made available to make up for deficiencies and it is not to be used as nutrition substitute.
