J.K. Rowling Reveals Her Regrets About Hermione and Ron Romance

Seven years after the "Harry Potter" books came to an end, the series author, J.K. Rowling, has opened up about her regrets of turning the characters, Hermione Granger with Ron Weasley, into a couple.

People magazine reported that during a Wonderland magazine interview with guest editor Emma Watson, Rowling admitted that she thinks main character Potter and the brainy Granger would have been a better couple.

"I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment. That's how it was conceived, really," Rowling said in the interview. "For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron."

The 48-year-old author joked that the two character's personalities would could cause them to end up in relationship counseling. She then added that her new revelations might cause some uproar.

"I know, I'm sorry, I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I'm absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that," Rowling told Watson during the interview.  "It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking people's hearts by saying this? I hope not."

Watson, 23, reportedly also agreed with Rowling.

"I think there are fans out there who know that too and who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy," the actress told Rowling.

In the final installment of the book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," it was revealed that Hermione and Ron got married and had two kids, Rose and Hugo.
