TV Chef Sandra Lee Cancer Prompts New York Governor Andrew Cuomo To File Indefinite Break From Service To Support Partner Of 10 Years

Sandra Lee Cancer detection at early stage is something that the New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has been thankful for. After TV Chef Sandra Lee Cancer revelation on Tuesday, the governor of New York expressed his support to girlfriend of 10 years even it would take him to take indefinite leave from office.

It was not easy to accept any health condition, but when Sandra Lee, Cancer news was revealed in a pre-taped interview with "Good Morning America," TIMES reported that Governor Cuomo was "devastated" but at the same time, he praises his live-in girlfriend for her "determination, resolve and grace."

In the recent recorded interview with the program, the celebrity chef and long-time live-in partner of Gov. Cuomo bravely admitted that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. WSJ also reported that Lee will undergo double mastectomy anytime this week.

Lee also stated that Gov. Cuomo has been very supportive to her especially the past few weeks during the time that she had already underwent lumpectomy. She continued that in her next surgery, the governor will be there with her inside the operating room.

"A few weeks ago we received terrible news. Sandy shared with me that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was devastated," Gov. Cuomo said in a statement. "She never ceases to amaze me."

According to Observer, Gov. Cuomo also shared that he is planning to take an indefinite leave of absence from his gubernatorial position to support her live-in partner, Sandra Lee. Cancer was never in their family history, he added and it was good that they detected cancer in earlier stage.

In Times Union report, the governor claimed that Sandra Lee Cancer revelation was to inform other women the importance of having regular screening, which is mammogram. If not for Lee's commitment to her routine screenings, she would not discover her condition at the earliest time.

It was not only in "Good Morning America" that the TV chef revealed her condition. In her Facebook page, Sandra Lee Cancer revelation was clear. "I wanted you to know about the difficult news I recently received -- I was diagnosed with breast cancer, Lee wrote.

Lee was a TV personality and a celebrity chef, who has hosted various TV cooking programs and was popular for her "Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee" and "Sandra's Money Saving Meals" in Food Network. She is sharing a home with the governor in Westchester County.

Sandra Lee Cancer battle is also being documented by Lee herself in a no-holds barred video diary.

Lee was diagnosed with DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ), a common noninvasive cancer that affects the milk ducts, but can become serious if left untreated.

For the governor, he stated that Sandra Lee Cancer diagnosis made him realize the value of many things and admitted that life is more important than anything. Gov. Cuomo recently lost his father in January.
